Together
The 2038 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Switzerland are more than just a sporting event – they are a unique, shared, unifying, inspiring project for and by the Swiss public.
Congregating and working together to achieve a shared goal, strengthening our identity and projecting values into the future. Anyone can get involved. We are moving Switzerland. We are moving the Olympic spirit. Sport is a catalyst for this, creating unique emotions, building bridges and connections and strengthening us as a society. Olympic Winter Games at home will offer a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience for Swiss sport and the elite athletes that define its identity, as well as for the Swiss population as a whole. All will be swept up in the Olympic spirit in their own country and can be proud of the Swiss approach, which should also inspire future Olympic events in other locations.
The goal will therefore be to ensure that as many people and areas as possible benefit, whether directly or indirectly. This begins with the national concept, incorporating our different areas and linguistic regions and reinforcing the common bond shared by Switzerland as a nation united by choice. In the same vein, inclusion is hugely important to us. We therefore want to establish stronger links between the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and reaffirm our solidarity: together we are strong. Together we are a team.
Our new approach will spark emotions across Switzerland, inspire young and old alike, and mobilise our expertise and drive. Switzerland as a winter sports nation, our winter sports federations with their expertise in organising large international sporting events, our culture of volunteering, our capacity to innovate, and our direct democracy at the heart of Europe could all help to lead the Olympic and Paralympic movement into the future – with a decentralised, judiciously and sustainably organised Winter Games for all. Sport drives our country and gives us impetus for the future.
